Coming Soon: New Website Chronicles Remarkable Journey of Pioneering Female Motorcyclist
Grand Canyon Web Design is thrilled to announce our latest project: a comprehensive website dedicated to Justine Tibesar, a trailblazing adventurer whose extraordinary motorcycle journey across Asia and Europe in 1931 broke barriers and set records that remain impressive even by today’s standards.
The website, currently in development, will document the remarkable story of this 22-year-old woman who, despite having no prior motorcycling experience, purchased an FN M70 350cc motorcycle in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) and embarked on a solo 22,000-kilometer journey back to Europe.
“This project represents everything we love about web design – bringing forgotten historical achievements to light through engaging digital storytelling,” said Sarah Reynolds, Creative Director at Grand Canyon Web Design. “Justine’s journey through Cambodia, India, Persia, Turkey and Europe is a testament to human determination and courage.”
The website will feature:
- Interactive maps tracing Tibesar’s journey from Vietnam to Belgium
- Restored historical photographs and newspaper clippings
- Timeline of her global adventures, including her earlier travels with the Work Around the World Educational Club
- Technical details of her iconic FN motorcycle
- Firsthand accounts from Tibesar’s journals and interviews
Born in Luxembourg in 1909, Tibesar’s adventure began when she obtained her motorcycle license just days before setting off from Saigon in March 1931. Her journey took her through challenging terrain including desert crossings, mountain passages, and regions affected by political unrest and disease outbreaks. She arrived triumphantly in Belgium in January 1932.
The website is scheduled to launch next month and will serve as the definitive online resource for this pioneering woman’s contributions to motorcycle history and female adventuring.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project celebrating a truly remarkable historical figure whose story deserves to be widely known.
